Enter Byakuya, a Japanese ice cream that recently bagged the Guinness World Record for the world’s most expensive ice cream, costing ₹5.2 lakhs for a scoop.
Japanese Brand Curates World’s Most Expensive Ice Cream
Talk about boujee ice cream, and the world has just witnessed Cellato, a Japanese ice cream brand strutting across the culinary world with its newest, most luxurious creation, Byakuya. Costing a generous, maybe even wildly priced 873,400 yen ( ₹5.2 lakhs), this ice cream is here to turn heads around.
The caption on a video by the Guinness World Records informs viewers that it’s the most expensive ice cream curated by OMER in Japan. So, what’s Byakuya made of? The ice cream is made of white truffles grown in Italy’s Alba, where the truffles itself cost a whopping ₹12 lakh per kg. The other costly ingredients include edible gold leaf, sake lees, from leftover sake production and Parmigiano Reggiano cheese.

Truffle, Cheese & Sake Flavoured Ice Cream
This ice cream has no regular vanilla, chocolate or fruity flavours. Instead, it promises to tantalise the taste buds of patrons with white truffle, sake and exquisite cheese. The Japanese brand aimed to fuse together European and Japanese ingredients to curate a unique ice cream flavour. Apparently, it has a robust aroma and flavour of white truffles and the complex and fruity notes of cheese. The sake leaves a luxurious aftertaste on the palate.

A representative from the Cellato brand revealed to Guinness World Records that it took 1.5 years to curate this unique ice cream. Furthermore, achieving the Guinness World Record, makes it worth the effort for the Japanese brand. Moreover, the brand now aims to curate new expensive ice cream flavours revolving around the classic champagne and caviar combination.
