“This Mother India Wants To Let Go Of Endless Waiting,” Shefali Shah Goes On A Solo Trip To Rishikesh After Her Family Backed Out

The mom guilt is real! And it spares no one—not even actor Shefali Shah, who had painstakingly planned a trip to Rishikesh with her family, only to have them back out later. So, what did she do? Despite being engulfed with moral dilemmas and mom guilt for a while, she decided to take the plunge and go on a solo trip to Rishikesh.

Shefali Shah Heads To Rishikesh For An Adventurous Solo Trip

Taking to her Instagram handle, Shefali Shah shared a picture of herself posing with a paddle on a raft in Rishikesh, Uttarakhand. What was special was her beautifully penned story behind that adventurous picture. Shefali wrote that she had planned a trip for her family of four where crossing the first hurdle of the trip meant as complex as aligning everyone’s dates. She hilariously drew parallels with date alignments to be something as rare as achieving celestial alignments.

After trying endlessly for days to align the dates and fix the destination for their family trip, her son backed out. Followed by her husband and her other son. In her words, they just wanted to chill at home. The actor was upset but then decided to go alone. But Shefali admits that travelling alone without her family comes with moral dilemmas. It ranges from doubt, mom guilt and so much more.

Her middle-class upbringing made her wonder if she should splurge the amount on herself. “But this Mother India wants to let go of endless waiting and go to a place in the lap of nature, surrounded by a gurgling river, wrapped in the warmth of a blanket after a relaxing massage, accompanied by a book some wine,” says the Darlings actor.

Leaves Mom Guilt Behind To Fulfil Her Wish

And that’s exactly what Shefali Shah did on her solo trip this winter. Before she could give in to her “Sati Savitri conscience”, she made her bookings and told herself the iconic dialogue from DDLJ— “Ja Simran ja. Jee le apni Zindagi.” Shefali stayed at Anand Kashi by the Ganges, Rishikesh – IHCL SeleQtions. She was pampered with the cutest room decor and a lavish traditional thali. It was a solo trip that every woman rooted for!

Tillotama Shome wrote in the comments section, “PERFECT and am so so glad you did this”. We couldn’t agree more! Perhaps there is no escape from mom guilt. But what Shefali Shah shows us is that we can make peace with it to go ahead and fulfil our wishes. For every Mother India and Sati Savitri, there is a Simran, there is a Queen.
