This Small Village In Switzerland Is Now Home To More Tourists Than Locals; 5 Things To Do Here

Nestled on the shores of Lake Brienz, amidst the breathtaking Swiss Alps, lies the picturesque village of Iseltwald. With its stunning natural beauty, charming architecture, and serene ambience, Iseltwald is a hidden gem that captivates the hearts of all who visit. However, the town only had 400 residents. But the popular K-drama, Crash Landing on You, put the small fishing village on the world map. Now, this idyllic Swiss village hosts a large number of Asian tourists.

This K-Drama Made Iseltwal Popular World-Wide

Many scenes of the popular drama were shot in Iseltwald, especially at Lake Brienz. The stunning turquoise waters, flanked by mountains, are now etched in viewers’ minds.

However, mostly Asian tourists with selfie sticks and tripods can be onto the bus that operates between Interlaken and Iseltwald. Each visitor must now pay 5 Swiss francs (₹ 450) upon arrival in order to access the pier’s edge for photos; the fee was instituted in May in an effort to reduce over-tourism. All funds go straight to the Interlaken municipality to assist in paying for infrastructural expenditures.

Iseltwald is easily accessible, located just a short drive from the town of Interlaken. As you approach, the first thing that strikes you is the breathtaking beauty of Lake Brienz. Additionally, the crystal-clear turquoise waters of the lake are framed by the majestic snow-capped peaks of the Swiss Alps, creating a postcard-perfect panorama.
