Sicily

Italy’s sun-kissed islands have long been a haven for artists seeking inspiration, tranquillity, and a vibrant cultural milieu. These islands’ diverse geography provides a visual feast for artists. And when it comes to Sicily, you are surrounded by rich heritage, which can infuse your work with a sense of timelessness. If you want to shift to Sicily, now is the time! Because the town of Sambuca Di Sicilia is offering two lucky artists to stay there, everything for free.

Welcome To Sambuca Di Sicilia

Sambuca Di Sicilia is the town in question, and you may already be aware of it as one of the numerous Sicilian towns where houses are being auctioned off for €1. The community is now accepting applications from all types of artists.

The two artists will enjoy life as neighbours in two exquisite homes, each of which has a living room, dining room, kitchen, office, and balcony with views of the magnificent lake and an old Arab fortification. Each artist will get a price of £1,700 (€2,000, $2150) in addition to a £1,000 (€1,200, $1265) spending allowance for supplies.

According to an article by TimeOut, Mayor Giuseppe Cacioppo adds that the artists are required to use the time to produce a piece of work to donate to the town in exchange for a free month’s stay.

This town dates back to 830 AD. Known around as “Sicily’s Barn,” its historic millstones continue to produce bread and pasta today. It sounds like there’s enough to inspire with its regal architecture and mountainous environs.
