Three Young Women Drown In A Resort Swimming Pool
These women visited Vazco Beach Resort at Battappadi Cross Road from Mysuru on November 16. At around 10:05 AM on Sunday, the horrifying incident occurred after they entered the property’s swimming pool. According to a report by Deccan Herald, Keerthana was from Devaraj Mohalla, Hebbal Second Stage, Vijayanagar. Nishitha visited from 4th Cross, Kuribarahalli. And Parvathi came from Ramanuja Road, K R Mohalla. Several reports stated that they were not well-trained swimmers and still headed to the pool for leisure.
When Nishita moved close to the deeper portions of the pool and was visibly stressed to come out, Parvati rushed to rescue her friend. Seeing them in such an anxious condition, Keerthana jumped into the pool too to attempt to save her friends from drowning, according to a report by News18. Unfortunately, their collective efforts went in vain and soon they drowned.
No Lifeguard & No Immediate Help From The Staff
Though the resort has a swimming pool for visitors, there was no lifeguard to assist during this tragic incident on Sunday. Neither were these women provided with life-saving gear nor were they aware of the pool’s depth. Police officials from Ullal Police Station rushed to the spot and began inspecting the incident at the earliest.
Police have arrested Manohar, the Mangaluru resort’s owner, and Bharath, the manager of the property. The recently conducted investigation revealed that none of the seven employees working during the incident ran to help and rescue these women from drowning in the pool. The authorities sealed the property as well. It will be shut till the inspection continues.
