PM Modi dedicated the newly constructed terminal building of Tiruchirappalli International Airport in Trichy, Tamil Nadu, on January 2. When it comes to airports, Trichy is the second busiest in the state and has been waiting a long time for a new, bigger, and more contemporary terminal structure. The development of the new terminal building has cost around ₹1100 crore. Here’s all you need to know about this airport.

The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) previously said through an official announcement that the two-level new international terminal can accommodate over 44 lakh people a year, or roughly 3,500 during peak hours.

The new terminal looks after the convenience of passengers with many state-of-the-art amenities. The iconic building, which is anticipated to rank as the seventh-largest airport in terms of international passenger traffic, beautifully combines national values with municipal customs in an artistic way.

There are 60 check-in counters, 5 baggage carousels, 60 arrival immigration counters, and 44 departure immigration counters in the new terminal building. They also have numerous help desks. Travellers will have a seamless transit experience as they board aircraft equipped with the greatest modern comforts. (As per Zee News)

From Kolam Art To Srirangam Temple

The most recent terminal at Tiruchirappalli International Airport is built in an area of roughly 75,000 square metres. The development of related isolation bays and taxiways is another aspect of the project expansion. 

The new terminal building intends to highlight Tiruchirappalli’s vibrant culture. Through its dynamic exterior facade and magnificent interiors, it will display art styles ranging from Kolam art to the colours of Srirangam Temple and other subject artworks showing India’s relationship to the rest of the globe. We have painted numerous murals and other paintings. 

According to Rajavignesh, the creative director for the artworks in the terminal building, they engaged a total of 100 artists and completed the artworks in 30 days.

The newest terminal is anticipated to stimulate economic growth, improve connections for air travel. This will directly benefit the people of Trichy and the surrounding districts.
