Road trips or commuting anywhere by car is comfortable and fun until we get stuck in a never-ending traffic jam. Be it the morning office hours or evening peak time, congestion on the roads is unavoidable and we come across it very often. Recently, a list of cities with the worst traffic congestion has been unveiled and shockingly, Mumbai is not a part of it. Mumbaikars, it seems a bit unbelievable, right?
London Is The Slowest City Globally
No matter if people have visited London or not, everyone is well aware of the city, its bustling environment, huge footfall of visitors, and so on. Interestingly, the England capital has been named as the slowest city in 2023, according to TomTom (Tom2). The Dutch-based company called the city the slowest to navigate in the past year with an average driving speed of only 14 km/h.
To curate the traffic index report on cities with the worst traffic congestion, the technology company evaluated 387 cities in 55 countries from 6 continents. TomTom gathered data from more than 600 million in-car navigation systems and smartphones. It calculated the average travel time per kilometre for every city considering the overall network in 2023.
After London in the top rank, Dublin is the second-lowest city with an average travel time per 10 km of 29 minutes 30 seconds. Next is Toronto followed by Milan and Lima.

These Indian Cities Made It To The List Of Worst Traffic Congestion
While talking about Indian cities with terrible traffic jams, the first few cities that come to our mind are Bengaluru, Mumbi, and Delhi. The TomTom Traffic Index 2023 includes Bengaluru in the 6th spot on the list of slowest cities with an an average speed in rush hour of 18 km/h. Next is Pune in the 7th position with an average speed in rush hour of 19 km/h.
