On the special occasion of World Tourism Day, NLB Services released crucial information about the significance of this industry in offering job opportunities and contributing to the economy. NLB Services CEO Sachin Alug expressed his thoughts on India emerging as one of the world’s premier tourist destinations. According to a forecast by the World Travel and Tourism Council, India’s travel and tourism sector has the potential to register a growth of an annual GDP of 7.1 per cent in the upcoming decade.

This sector positively affects the economy contributing about $199.6 billion to the GDP. According to details shared by this global technology and digital talent solutions provider, the tourism sector is likely to create about 39.5 million jobs by the end of this year. Also, Sachin Alug highlighted its multiplier effect leading to each direct job creating several indirect jobs. With a strong uptick, around 42.3 million jobs are anticipated by 2025.

Opportunities for direct jobs and employment will constitute about 31 per cent. These roles include hotel staff, tour guides, and tour operators. The remaining 69 per cent will be for indirect employment and will focus on works such as landscape maintenance, IT support for online booking, local artisans, data analysis, supply chain workers, and logistics and transport operators.
