We often talk about the importance of tourism. Not just for tourists, seeking new adventures but for locals yearning for employment, income and empowerment opportunities. But how often do we insist on the importance of responsible tourism? Responsible tourism is needed to protect the environment and the livelihoods of people associated with it. In a shocking, utterly distasteful incident, a group of tourists were seen driving their Audi in Ladakh’s pristine Pangong Lake. Alchohol bottles were strewn nearby. Here’s everything to know about the incident.
Gurugram Tourists Drive Audi Into Pangong Lake
Ladakh’s famous Pangong Lake is nestled at an altitude of 14,100 feet. Surrounded by snow-capped mountains, this crystal blue lake is one of the largest and most srunning natural brackish lakes in India. Unfortunately, the lake , just like many others might be just a step away from dirt and contamination. Don’t believe us? Well, a video of group of 3 to 4 tourists from Gurugram driving an Audi Q3 in the lake has gone viral. In the video, the three men are seen hanging from the sunroof, while the driver takes the car in the Pangong Tso.

I am sharing again an another shameful video . Such irresponsible tourists are killing ladakh . Do you know? Ladakh have a more than 350 birds species and lakes like pangong are the home of many bird species. Such act may have risked the habitat of many bird species. pic.twitter.com/ZuSExXovjp

Internet Condemns Irresponsible Tourism
If that’s not enough to get you disgusted. Then tables with alcohol bottles placed near the lake will leave you shocked beyond belief. The internet blasted the tourists for irresponsible tourism. One Twitterati commented that the environemnt isn’t anyone’s personal property. Instead, it should be everyone’s responsbility to protect it. Others called authorites in Ladakh to take strict action against the tourists. We hope action will be taken against these tourists to condemn irresponsible tourism.
@kishanreddybjp @tourismgoi Hon. Minister, this shameful behaviour by so called tourists should not go unpunished. Or else, it will spoil the natural beauty of the destination. 🙏🙏🙏
