Alliance Air, the government-owned airline, operates short and medium-route flights, connecting tier 2 and tier 3 cities. Its operations align with the government’s Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik (UDAN) scheme. According to Hindustan Times, the Fare Se Fursat initiative is being implemented on a pilot basis on select routes from October 13 to December 31, 2025, to evaluate its operational feasibility and passenger response.

This ‘One Route One Fare’ scheme was inaugurated by Union Aviation Minister Rammohan Naidu Kinjarapu, who said that with this initiative, air travel will become more people-friendly. The government-owned airline will offer a single, fixed airfare, which will remain constant regardless of the booking date. In fact, even if passengers book it on the day of departure, they won’t have to pay any exorbitant fare.

Aim, Key Benefits & All About This Scheme

As per the Aviation Minister, the Fare Se Fursat scheme addresses one of the biggest concerns of Indian travellers–airfare. With this new initiative, Alliance Air will move “beyond profitability and focus on public service.” With this new One Route, One Fare scheme, passengers travelling to and from tier 2 and tier 3 cities will benefit the most.

Alliance Air flies short and medium-route flights, mainly connecting tier 2 and tier 3 cities under the central government’s UDAN scheme. This new initiative is expected to greatly benefit travellers from smaller cities and further promote air travel in these regions.

Currently, Alliance Air’s fleet consists primarily of ATR 72-600 turboprop aircraft, some ATR 42-600 and one Indian-made Dornier 228 aircraft. The ATR 72-600 turboprop aircraft are best equipped to serve smaller airports.
