Kalyan-Karjat Flyover To Cut Travel Time & Traffic Congestion Between Badlapur East And West

Travelling from Badlapur East and West is likely to become smoother and faster as a new flyover on the Kalyan-Karjat railway corridor moves forward. Read on to know more about the flyover.

Upcoming Kalyan-Karjat Flyover

According to a report from News18, the proposed project between Kalyan and Karjat is set to reduce travel time, ease traffic, and improve connectivity for thousands of daily commuters. The decision has been made to build a new flyover that will bridge the railway line and connect Barrage Road in Badlapur West to Hope Power House near the industrial area in the East. It will also connect the Badlapur-Karjat route. Once implemented and completed, this flyover will significantly cut travel time and will offer a faster and easier route for the residents.

The project is led by the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA), which has already invited tenders to prepare a detailed project report. The preparation marks the first step towards executing a long-pending demand aimed at better local infrastructure.

Flyover To Reduce Badlapur Congestion

According to the news portal, currently Badlpur relies only on a single flyover for East-West movement, leading to major traffic congestion. Especially during the monsoon season, the condition worsens when waterlogging and increased vehicle load make commuting difficult. The upcoming flyover may not completely resolve the issue, but it will still make a significant contribution. Those travelling from Kharvai in Badlapur East to Barrage Road in the West will still have to rely on the existing flyover.

Currently, residents travelling from different areas like Rameshwadi and Ritu World to Kharvai in the East are forced to take a long route of 4 to 5 kms via Badlapur village. This increases travel time and contributes to severe congestion near the bus station and railway station.

The upcoming flyover is expected to address major concerns of the traffic by offering a direct route, reducing the journey from kilometres to just a few minutes. Once finished, the Badlapur flyover will provide an easy and accessible commute to the residents of the area.
