This 135-Km Expressway Could Redefine Travel And Development Across Delhi NCR

The Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) Expressway is expected to be recognised as the most thoroughly developed highway in the National Capital Region (NCR). Want to know the reason behind it? Read on!

Kundli-Manesar Expressway To Be A Major Project In Delhi NCR

According to a report by The New Indian Express, the National Capital Region Planning Board (NCRPB) will discuss the Draft Regional Plan 2041 at its June 16 meeting. The plan formally designates the belt encompassing the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) and Eastern Peripheral Expressways as the Central NCR (CNCR) and assigns it a distinct financial identity under the name ‘Golden Ring of Opportunity’. Notably, the NCRPB granted in-principle approval to the Draft Regional Plan 2041 during its 41st board meeting in October 2021.

The Golden Ring is one of five policy zones established across the NCR. It will also be developed alongside the National Capital Territory (NCT) Delhi, highway corridor zones with transit-oriented development, and natural conservation zones. The CNCR has been granted the highest-intensity development mandate, which will feature dense multi-use development, maximum floor area ratios, TOD clusters close to transport nodes and priority infrastructure capital. Under the plan, the CNCR extends beyond Delhi to areas located up to five kilometres outside the Eastern and Western Peripheral Expressways.

What All Will Happen Under The Project?

Urban hubs and new industrial townships spread across 2.5 lakh hectares will be constructed within a belt stretching from two to six kilometres on either side of the expressway under the project. It will be managed by a dedicated Panchgram Development Authority. The Manesar-Bawal Investment Region, a Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC)-linked national industrial priority zone that anchors the southern stretch of the KMP, will also be merged into all state sub-regional plans.

Multiple modal transport stations have also been proposed along the KMP corridor. These consist of a hub at Panchgaon Chowk in Manesar that will connect the Delhi-Alwar Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS), the Gurugram-Manesar Metro and the Jhajjar-Palwal rail line. Additionally, another corridor at Kherki Daula in Gurugram will combine RRTS, metro and bus connectivity.
