Scroll down to know more about this.
Cooking Gas Crisis Hits Kerala Tourist Buses
Amid the ongoing tensions in the Middle East, the cooking gas supply has been significantly impacted in India. This has not just affected restaurant operations but is now also affecting trips and vacation plans for many. According to Mathrubhumi, the tourist bus industry in Kerala is now facing these challenges. The reason? There is uncertainty over food availability at hotels in top tourist destinations. Many people are either cancelling their trips or postponing them. This has pushed the business of tourist buses into distress.
Trips to destinations such as Mysuru, Ooty, Munnar, Kodaikanal, Kodagu, Wayanad and Alappuzha have come down. Not just that, pilgrimage travel has also declined. Places like Velankanni, Malayattoor, Erwadi, Thanjavur, Tiruchirappalli, Kashi and Rameswaram are also seeing fewer tourists.

Buses Remain Parked At Depots
According to Mathrubhumi, there are over a thousand tourist buses in Edakkara, Kerala. These include minibuses that provide direct and indirect employment to thousands of workers. The tourist season usually begins after Eid every year. Reportedly, April and May are typically the busiest months for these tourist buses, while operations slow down during the monsoon.
The income earned during this peak season helps sustain the industry for the rest of the year. But this year, times are undoubtedly tough for them. Currently, many buses remain parked at petrol pumps and depots instead of being on their way to tourist destinations. This scenario clearly reflects that the cooking gas crisis is significantly impacting many people.
