You Can Now Own A Piece Of Paris’ Iconic Eiffel Tower
The Eiffel Tower in Paris, France, is one of the world’s most visited monuments. Named after the engineer Gustave Eiffel, it was designed and built from 1887 to 1889. Lakhs of people from across the world visit Paris every year just to see the monument and take photos in front of it. It is honestly beautiful. But according to The Independent, an original segment of the tower will soon be put up for sale at an auction in France. On May 21, a part of the Parisian landmark’s staircase will be sold to the highest bidder in the world.
Reportedly, in 1983, spiral staircases connecting the second and third floors of the Eiffel Tower were dismantled into 24 individual parts and sold at auction. These staircases were later replaced with elevators. One of these 14-ft parts is on the Eiffel Tower’s first floor, while several others are displayed at places like the Musée d’Orsay, La Villette, and the Iron Museum in Paris.
