When you’ve just deboarded the flight and heading towards the luggage conveyor belt, there are probably many thoughts flitting through your head. Especially, when your bag is late, chances are, you’re plagued by the thought of what if your bag is taken by someone else or what if it’s lost. However, this turned out to be true for a passenger after an Egyptian traveller accidentally picked up a China-bound passenger’s luggage from the conveyor belt. Here’s what happened at the Dubai International Airport.
Dubai-Bound Passenger Loses Bag At DXB
An Egyptian traveller accidentally picked up another passenger’s luggage at the Dubai International Airport. This was an honest mistake as they thought it was their own bag due to the similarity of shape and colour. As it happens, this bag contained AED25,000 along with the passenger’s travel documents and clothes. Once the authorities were informed, the General Department Of Airport Security at Dubai Police, traced the bag back within half an hour.
His Bag Was Mistakenly Taken By An Egyptian Traveller
At this point, it’s worth mentioning that this mistake happened when the passenger was in a rush to catch a flight to China, which was just in one hour. The man went to the airport police office at the arrival halls after he realised that he had misplaced his bag. when the on-duty officer received the report of the missing bag, he immediately formed a task force to track the passenger’s luggage movement. After combing through the surveillance footage, it was revealed that the bag was mistakenly taken by an Egyptian female passenger who was still at the airport corridors, waiting for her relatives.

The Man Didn’t Miss His Flight, After All!
When the airport police arrived, she was taken by surprise as she was unaware of the bag switch until that point in time. She later, explained the mistake and returned the bag. The man whose bag had been lost, quickly retrieved the same and was able to catch his flight to China, which was due in an hour.
Both the passengers were thankful to the authorities for their quick action and for helping them retrace their luggage. This just shows how the authorities are always on their toes to help people at the airport so that they do not have to face any hassle while travelling.
