The world turned upside down with the Coronavirus pandemic. Just when things started getting back to normal after so long, the positive cases are surging again. Everyone was wandering and exploring the world without any fear, but things took a turn again. If you are thinking of travelling abroad, then you have to follow some restrictions and limitations at various destinations.
1. Europe
Europe slowly started lifting restrictions just a few weeks back and now everything is getting restricted yet.
- Greece lifted all the entry rules. Using masks is a mandate from 2 May.
- Italy dropped all of its ‘state of emergency’ on 31 March but later extended the travel restrictions till 30 April.
- Albania is still following all COVID-19 measures and the night-time curfews from 11 pm to 6 am as well. Face masks are mandatory on public transport and even indoors.
- Wearing masks is necessary indoors in Andorra. Social distancing is also followed here.
- Masks are mandatory indoors like shops, public transport, and worship places in Belgium. If you are visiting Belgium for more than 48 hours, then you have to fill in a Passenger Locator Form.
- Tourists are allowed in Bosnia and Herzegovina if they can present negative PCR results 48 hours prior to the travel or the vaccination report. Everyone needs to wear masks both indoors and outdoors.
- To enter Bulgaria, tourists need to present negative COVID-19 PCR test results 72 hours before the travelling day.
- COVID vaccination certificate, negative PCR test result taken before 72 hours, or an antigen test 24 hours before travelling is necessary while travelling to Croatia.
- Travelling to Estonia will require you to follow a 10-day quarantine period if you are coming from an EU/EEA country that has an infection rate of more than 150 cases per 100,000 people in the last 2 weeks.

2. United States
If you are travelling to the US, then wearing a mask inside the airline is not necessary anymore. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention lifted the ‘Do Not Travel’ COVID-19 recommendations for almost 90 destinations. The rules are getting upgraded at any moment, so make sure to check the present status prior to making your travel plans to the United States.
3. United Arab Emirates
Presently, there are no strict regulations to travel to or from the United Arab Emirates.
- No PCR tests are required yet if you are fully vaccinated. If you have a recovery certificate from Covid-19 issued around 30 days of departure, then no tests are mandated.
- Children who are flying to Dubai below 12 years do not require any test.
- Also, children who are flying to Abu Dhabi below 16 years do not require any test.
- Travellers not falling into any of the above-mentioned criteria needs to take PCRs test within 48 hours of travel.

4. Thailand
AirAsia is restarting flights from India to Thailand. The new 5 routes from India are Chennai-Bangkok (Don Mueang), Bengaluru to Bangkok (Don Mueang), Bengaluru to Kuala Lumpur (Don Mueang), Kochi to Bangkok (Don Mueang), Kolkata to Bangkok (Don Mueang), and Jaipur to Bangkok (Don Mueang).
The dates of resuming these flight ways:
- Chennai to Bangkok- 4 May
- Jaipur to Bangkok- 1 May
- Bengaluru to Bangkok- 4 May
- Kochi to Bangkok- 1 May
- Kolkata to Bangkok- 2 May
Indians will easily get a visa after arriving in Thailand.
The most important point to keep in mind is that the regulations are changing every now and then. With the sudden surge in positive cases, travelling abroad can get a bit tricky. You have to continuously check the guidelines while planning for your foreign tour.
