Recently, One97 Communications Limited released Travelpanti 2024 highlighting how younger Indian travellers have explored this year. It shows a year-end recap celebrating the spirit of travel and the penchant for visiting different corners of the world. According to the report, this witnessed a significant uptick in travelling for concerts by 44 per cent. Indian cities hosted grand shows this year and we spent the entire year scrolling through social media feeds and enjoying people’s content about these shows.
Mumbai and Dubai became this year’s topmost searched destinations. As per the press release, these results showcased tourists’ fascination with enjoying luxurious trips and bustling city life. More and more younger visitors chose budget trips. 36 per cent of bus bookings were confirmed by passengers under the age of 25 years.
Bookings for buses surged remarkably during festivals such as Chhath Puja. A major growth in train bookings was noticed during the Holi weekend. Many youngsters living in different cities returned to their hometowns to celebrate festivities with family members. The report revealed that around 30 per cent of bookings were done after 8 PM. This data shows how many preferred planning trips at the last minute. August 15 was one of this year’s busiest days for flight bookings.
Interesting Travel Records Of 2024
Younger travellers gained interest in spiritual tourism. Tirupati emerged as the most booked religious destination in 2024. Here are more interesting facts about this year’s travel experiences:
- The longest train journey recorded this year was the 4,189 km route from Dibrugarh to Kanyakumari.
- Visting offbeat and remote destinations was a major highlight. A rise in bookings was seen for Antananarivo, Madagascar, and Lakshadweep.
- Almaty and Kenya were travelled frequently and one of the biggest influences for holidaying there was the visa-free travel option.
- The cheapest flight tickets started at ₹1,300 for a journey from Delhi to Gwalior.
