Electric Buses To Ferry Tourists To Ajanta Caves
As per a report by The Times Of India, on 27 September, World Tourism Day, the Maharashtra Tourism Department launched a fleet of 20 electric buses to ferry tourists visiting the renowned Ajanta Caves. The hassle-free transport will ferry visitors from the parking area to the cave complex.
The electric buses, both air-conditioned and non-air-conditioned can accommodate 14 to 22 passengers at a time. They will cater to both domestic and international tourists. As per the report, the entire fleet will be operational by October 20. Equipped with modern amenities, the buses promise a hassle-free, comfortable and convenient experience for passengers.
With these electric buses, the Maharashtra Tourism Department aims to cut down on waiting time and offer a pollution-free travel experience. These buses will employ 32 staff and will run every two minutes. A film featuring the history of Ajanta Caves will be played on the buses.

Here’s How You Can Book Tickets
Earlier, tourists visiting Ajanta Caves had to board diesel buses. They had to wait long hours for the bus to make rounds. The new electric bus fleet to the ancient caves promises a faster, more seamless and environmentally friendly mode of transport. For now, you can buy tickets at the parking lot or kiosks near Ajanta Caves. Later, the Maharashtra Tourism Department will launch a booking system through its official website and app.

Nestled around 100km away from Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar city in the Aurangabad district of Maharashtra, Ajanta Caves is one of the most revered heritage sites in India. This alluring cave network features 30 rock-cut monuments and paintings depicting the life of Lord Buddha from the Jataka Tales. The caves were a sanctuary for Buddhist monks, 1500 years ago.
