As brands across the globe took light-hearted jabs at the incident and turned it into a marketing opportunity, the brand’s Canadian arm joined the buzz with a tongue-in-cheek video that playfully exaggerates security around its deliveries, proving that even a chocolate scare can be spun into a sweet, viral win.
KitKat Turns Viral Heist Into Funny Campaign
Turning a real-life mishap into a clever marketing moment, KitKat Canada has leaned into humour after its widely talked-about Europe heist earlier this March. In a now-viral video, the brand’s Canadian arm is seen playfully deploying heavy “security” to protect its deliveries during the busy Easter weekend.
According to USA Today, the company stepped up safety measures with escort vehicles for delivery trucks and guards for in-store monitoring during the peak restocking period, while also turning the “sweetest crime ever” into a winning marketing move. In the video, a KitKat truck can be seen flanked by multiple cars acting as a mock security convoy. In a follow up video, they chekkily said, “At least this shipment’s safe…”

Netizens React To The Playful Nod
As you can imagine, netizens loved this light-hearted jab by KitKat. They praised the company’s marketing team, while many also joked about how it was learning from its past mistakes.
