Great news for travellers and cricket fans alike! Qantas, Australia’s largest airline, is all set to bring back its non-stop flights between Delhi and Melbourne later this month. The service resumes on 27 October 2025 and will continue until 28 March 2026, just in time for Australia’s peak travel season and the country’s exciting summer of cricket. This marks Qantas’ return to the route for the first time since June.
Qantas Brings Back Non-Stop Delhi-Melbourne Flights
The timing couldn’t be better. The first flight will land in Melbourne on 28 October, only a few days before the India vs Australia T20 match at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on 31 October 2025. All cricket fans from India will be able to reach Melbourne without worrying about long layovers or multiple stops, all thanks to this new route.
But Melbourne isn’t just about the cricket match; it’s also a city filled with culture, food, and beautiful sights. Even if you’re visiting for a match, you can spend the rest of your trip exploring its famous street art and cafes or take quick day trips to scenic spots like the Yarra Valley, Great Ocean Road, and Phillip Island. The airline plans to operate three weekly flights, on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, offering plenty of options to travellers.
Across these flights, Qantas is adding over 1,300 seats every week between Delhi and Melbourne and more than 30,000 seats across the peak travel period, making it easier than ever to visit Australia.

Business Class passengers can enjoy 26 lie-flat suites in a 1‑2‑1 layout, while Economy travellers have 204 seats in a 2‑4‑2 configuration. The Delhi-Melbourne service departs Delhi at 18:45 on the QF70 flight and arrives in Melbourne at 12:40 the following day. At 09:20, the return QF69 departs Melbourne, arriving in Delhi at 16:45. All passengers will receive meals, drinks, in-flight entertainment, and checked baggage, ensuring a smooth and comfortable journey from start to finish.
The airline is also offering options for travellers who want to explore more of Australia. Through Qantas Explorer, visitors can book discounted domestic fares to destinations such as Sydney, the Gold Coast, Cairns, and Tasmania. For Indian travellers, Qantas’ partnership with IndiGo allows connections from Delhi to 21 other cities across India, making travel even more convenient.
Melbourne will be buzzing with cricket action this season. Apart from the India T20 on 31 October, the city will host the Ashes Boxing Day Test (26–30 December 2025), four Big Bash League matches (18 December, 4 January, 8 January, 13 January), and the Women’s Ashes day-night Test (30 January–2 February 2026).
When these direct flights from Delhi are operational, Indian fans will be able to easily arrange their travel around these matches.
