At the recently held World Economic Forum in Davos, world leaders did not just take part in serious discussions but also enjoyed Indian food. Yes, you read that right. The Akshaya Patra Foundation served khichdi to delegates, and many other Indian stalls also dished out popular Indian food. And you won’t believe it, the response was so good that queues formed outside these food stalls!
Indian Food Like Khichdi, Chai, & Samosas Served At WEF In Davos
According to a report by Moneycontrol, at one of the food courts near the WEF venue in Davos, the Akshaya Patra Foundation, a Bengaluru-based NGO, served India’s ultimate comfort food: khichdi. Leaders not only relished free khichdi at the stall but also stopped by to enjoy masala chai, samosas, pakodas, and paranthas at other Indian food stalls. The event was held over five days in the ski resort town of Davos in Switzerland.
As per a report by The Economic Times, the Tata Group also set up a tea stall called ‘Chai Central’ near its lounge on the main street leading to the Congress Centre. The stall offered hot cups of tea to passers-by. Similarly, HCL Tech put up a stall serving tea and coffee throughout the five-day event. Several stalls were also seen serving biryanis and a variety of Indian curries, which drew large crowds.

Delegates Impressed By Desi Food
According to another report by The Economic Times, an Indian food truck, Kumar Indian Food, also made its presence felt at Davos this year. The food truck, located on the Promenade, served Indian classics such as samosas, pakodas, rice, rotis, and several vegetarian and non-vegetarian curries. While there were stalls selling Chinese and Swiss food too, Indian food stalls reportedly attracted more customers than the rest.
Inside the India Pavilion, hot Indian food and beverages were also on the menu. This included tikkis, tea, coffee, paranthas, and more. Clearly, Indian food travelled straight from India to Davos and won hearts there. And honestly, it is no surprise that many delegates were bowled over by the taste.
