Michelin-star chef Vikas Khanna was recently surprised with a custom, intricately detailed cake modelled after his New York restaurant, Bungalow, during a special event in Atlanta. The cake artist meticulously recreated all the signature architectural elements of the NYC spot, which definitely left a lasting impression on Vikas.
Vikas Khanna Gets A Special Bungalow-Inspired Cake
Mehtab Nasir is an award-winning cake artist from Atlanta. She specialises in customised cakes and has even made cakes for stars like Anupam Kher, Saif Ali Khan and more. But recently, at a fundraising event hosted in Atlanta, she got to know that the guest of honour was going to be Vikas Khanna and decided to surprise him too.
For him, she baked a Bungalow-inspired cake, modelled after his popular New York restaurant. The baker actually wanted to bring his beloved spot to Atlanta. The most surprising part is that Mehtab has never been to Bungalow herself. To bake that customised cake, she researched every detail to recreate it, from the front doors to the overhead view of the veranda and the glass ceiling.
Vikas Khanna was deeply moved by the gesture and said, “I have never seen anything like this.” He even clicked so many pictures of the cake and called the recreation the “Best thing.” Mehtab shared the video on her official Instagram page with her followers.
Kada Prasad-Flavoured Cake Makes The Chef Emotional
Honestly, Vikas Khanna couldn’t stop himself from repeatedly praising the cake and saying, “Yeh kitna sundar hai.” And yes, we agree. Mehtab’s countless hours spent bringing this vision to life have definitely been worth it. The restaurant was so meticulously recreated that even her followers were surprised. Even the outside plants were intricately recreated, just like how they are outside Bungalow.
But here comes the best part. Mehtab also told Vikas Khanna that the flavour of the cake was inspired by Kada Prasad, which holds importance for the chef as it connects him to Amritsar, his hometown. He was truly moved and told Mehtab, “Thank you for giving me this moment.”
The cake artist also wrote under the video, “Nothing could prepare me for this moment when a culinary icon and Michelin-starred master like Chef Vikas Khanna doesn’t just look at a custom cake, but pauses, notices every hidden design element, and pulls out his own phone to record it… time literally stops. A moment I will carry with me forever.”
