Delhi Airport Bans Non-Scheduled Flights On August 15
Non-scheduled flights, including chartered flights, will not be allowed to land or take off from Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport on August 15. As per a report by NDTV, these restrictions will be in force from 6:00 am to 10:00 am and from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Independence Day.
Applicable only to non-scheduled flights, the operations of scheduled flights will remain unaffected, as confirmed by an official on Wednesday. A NOTAM (Notice to Airmen) has been issued by the Aeronautical Information Services (AIS), which comes under the Airports Authority of India. For the uninitiated, a NOTAM generally contains important information for personnel involved in flight operations. A non-scheduled flight does not operate on a fixed timetable and is usually arranged for specific purposes. These flights are unlike a scheduled flight, which follows a set schedule.

Exemptions To The NOTAM
As per a report by The Economic Times, this NOTAM will not affect aircraft operated by the Indian Air Force (IAF), Border Security Force (BSF), and Army aviation helicopters. In addition, state-owned aircraft and helicopters flying the governor or the chief minister are exempted from the restrictions. It should also be noted that flights undertaking quick response time missions will remain exempt from the restrictions on August 15. Medical evacuation and casualty flights will also be allowed to operate without interruption.
Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi is India’s busiest airport. It handles around 1,300 flight movements daily across both domestic and international destinations. The implementation of these restrictions is part of the extra security measures by the airport on Independence Day.
