Sure, you have probably seen Indian food vloggers whip up continental cuisine like it’s no big deal. But have you ever seen a Dutch food vlogger prepare dal makhani from scratch? No, right? Food vlogger and model Wolf Alexander Lodewijk from the Netherlands (@wolfalexanderl) recently posted a video of himself making this rich Indian dal right in his kitchen. And the best part? He’s casually dancing to Morni Banke while doing it!
Alexander Lodewijk’s video, captioned “Dal Makhani 🇮🇳 how did I do? Ps I know it shouldn’t contain onions”, is now going viral. Many agree he’s better at making dal makhani than most of us. He shows the full process too: starting with overnight-soaked black lentils and kidney beans, which he pours into a large bowl. He then chops up garlic, onion, bay leaf, and a mix of Indian spices, sautes them in a kadhai, and turns them into a flavourful paste. Next, he grinds some black pepper, mixes everything into a tomato puree, and combines it all with the dal. To finish, he stirs in a generous amount of cream and butter and garnishes it with fresh coriander. Tempting, right?
A Dutch food vlogger following every step of the Indian recipe, without taking shortcuts, is one way to win the hearts of Indians.

Another user chimed in with a relatable comment: “My only concern is how he kept the white pants with no stains?” And honestly, we couldn’t agree more. Cooking in an Indian kitchen without staining our clothes is a real skill. One more follower also added: “You are a jack of all trades.”
