If you’ve been putting off trying 21grams, Summer Restaurant Week just gave you a reason, and a genuinely good one. The Umm Suqeim bistro, 21grams, known for nearly a decade for its Balkan cooking and famously warm hospitality, is offering an exclusive three-course lunch menu as part of this year’s Summer Restaurant Week, running from 13 July to 2 August.

21grams Joins Summer Restaurant Week & Here’s What’s On The Menu

Rather than building a separate, restaurant-week-only menu, 21grams has pulled together some of its most-loved signature dishes alongside a few seasonal additions, essentially using the week as an entry point for anyone who hasn’t been yet.

Expect the burnt eggplant hummus that regulars keep coming back for, Bosnian klepe dumplings, and sarma, the slow-cooked stuffed cabbage rolls that are practically a Balkan cooking rite of passage. Dessert leans nostalgic too, with tufahiya, a poached-apple treat, closing things out.

Why It’s Happening Now

Founder Stasha Toncev, who also runs Piehaus, said Summer Restaurant Week gives the bistro a chance to welcome new guests while giving regulars another reason to come back to dishes they already love. The menu, she added, is meant to reflect the restaurant’s heritage and the flavours that shaped it.

That heritage angle isn’t just marketing language here. 21grams has built its reputation over almost a decade specifically on Balkan comfort food and a hospitality style that leans toward generosity rather than fussiness, which is a large part of why it’s held on to a loyal local following in a city that changes restaurants every six months.

The Details

The Summer Restaurant Week menu runs for lunch only, from 13 July to 2 August, and comes with bottled water included. Bookings can be made through Careem DineOut or the official Summer Restaurant Week platform, so it’s worth locking in a slot in advance rather than walking in and hoping for a table.

Should You Go?

If Balkan food is new to you, this is genuinely one of the easier, lower-commitment ways to try it properly: three courses, a fixed structure, and dishes the kitchen has clearly perfected over years rather than thrown together for the occasion. Regulars, meanwhile, get the comfort-food hits at what’s likely a friendlier price point than the usual à la carte.
