A travel content creator couple on Instagram (@hollandcouple) recently visited the BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir located in Chino Hills in Southern California, USA.  And yes, they felt like they were in another country for a second. It is definitely a masterpiece that follows the North Indian Nagara style architecture. It is built with Indian pink sandstone and white Carrara marble, featuring intricate hand-carvings.

The temple is honestly so beautiful, and every part of its structure is made of hand-carved marble and sandstone. Apparently, the pieces that form this temple were made in India and then shipped to the USA. After this, they were assembled carefully. This 20-acre site also includes a 91-foot lotus-shaped reflection pond and fountain at the entrance.

World’s First Earthquake-Proof Mandir 

You would also like to know that this temple complex is the first earthquake-proof mandir in the world. The temple belongs to the Bochasanwasi Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan Sanstha denomination of Hinduism, but yes, it is open to visitors of all faiths. The mandir is open daily, but there are specific visiting hours. These are usually from 9 am to 12 pm and then again from 4 pm to 7:30 pm.

If you are planning to visit the temple, keep in mind that you must follow a dress code. You need to dress modestly and avoid shorts, crop tops, or sleeveless shirts. There are no photos or videos allowed inside the temple, but you can take photos outside. Apart from this, there is also a cafe and food court inside that sells Indian food and snacks.
