Video Shows Cucumbers Being Painted Green At Bihar’s Katihar Railway Station; Netizens Furious

Summers are here, and most of us are relying on food items like cucumbers, watermelons, and more to keep our bodies cool and hydrated. But what if even the cucumbers we get from vendors are not safe? A video from Katihar Railway Station in Bihar shows women painting peeled cucumbers with a green-coloured liquid to make them appear fresh. Naturally, many netizens are now furious and are questioning food safety norms.

In a shocking incident, a viral video from Bihar’s Katihar Railway Station shows women painting peeled cucumbers green. The clip, posted by NCIB Headquarters, shows a woman dipping peeled cucumbers in a green-coloured liquid and then keeping them aside in another basket to sell to unsuspecting consumers who might come and buy them.

Another woman beside her is also seen washing the cucumbers before they are dipped into the unnatural green solution. The difference between the painted and non-painted cucumbers is also clearly visible in the video. However, it is still unclear what exactly the green-coloured liquid is.

Netizens Raise Food Safety Concerns 

NCIB not only uploaded the video but also questioned the unsafe food practices of these vendors. They highlighted that passengers’ lives are being openly toyed with in the presence of thousands of railway employees. NCIB also questioned who will take responsibility for passengers’ health at the railway station and on trains. RailwaySeva responded to the post and wrote, “The matter has been forwarded to the concerned authorities for necessary action.”

Not just NCIB, but netizens were furious too. One user wrote, “This is not just paint on Cucumbers, it’s a dangerous game with people’s health,”  while another commented, “Very dangerous.” A third user questioned food safety norms in India and stated that people should avoid eating from street vendors for the sake of their health.
