Tropical Storm Bert Hits The UK; Air India Issues Warning Of Flight Disruptions And Delays This Weekend

Air India has issued a travel warning for passengers flying to and from the United Kingdom on Sunday, November 24, 2024, due to Tropical Storm Bert. The storm, which is expected to cause significant disruption, has led the airline to advise travellers to check their flight status before heading to the airport.

Air India Issues Warning For UK-Bound Travellers

Tropical Storm Bert, the second named storm of the 2024/25 European storm season, is intensifying rapidly and is forecast to undergo “explosive cyclogenesis.” The storm’s pressure is predicted to drop considerably in the next 24 hours. According to The Watchers reports, it could result in a “bomb cyclone.” Throughout the UK and Ireland, this quick intensification will bring severe weather conditions, such as intense rain, high winds, and freezing temperatures in some places.

In addition to severe weather, the storm is expected to cause flooding, power disruptions, and even snow in higher regions of the UK. These adverse conditions are likely to lead to delays or cancellations of flights, particularly for those travelling to or from airports in the affected regions.

For passengers travelling between India and the UK, the storm could cause significant delays or disruptions in their travel plans. In a post on X (previously known as Twitter), Air India urged all flyers to check the status of their flights on their website. Checking the updates before heading to the airport could avoid unnecessary wait times or missed flights.

For up-to-date information and any possible changes to their itineraries, travellers are advised to stay in touch with their airlines. Due to the storm’s effect on air traffic, Air India has also advised passengers to be ready for any delays or cancellations, the Free Press Journal reported.

In the midst of the storm, airports and airlines, including Air India, are taking additional safety measures. While operations are continuing, conditions like strong winds and heavy rain may cause delays in air traffic, so passengers are urged to remain in touch with their airlines for further instructions and assistance.
