The news of a South Korean flight crashing while landing has shaken the world. With 179 people dead, this plane crash is being called one of the worst aviation disasters in recent years. Following this crash, a series of nerve-wracking incidents have been reported across the world. From Air Canada’s rough landing to KLM Royal Dutch Airlines’ aircraft skidding off the runway, here are some of the latest aviation news that shook people.
Air Canada Flight’s Rough Landing & KLM Royal Dutch Airlines Jet Veering Off Runway

On Sunday evening, an Air Canada flight narrowly avoided a fatal crash when it landed at Halifax Stanfield International Airport. According to The Economic Times, Air Canada flight AC2259, run by PAL Airlines, experienced a significant malfunction during landing and the plane skidded along the runway. Reportedly, the aircraft also caught fire after touching down.
The incident occurred around 9:30 PM local time and thankfully, no casualties or injuries were reported in the incident. However, one of the runways at the Halifax Airport was temporarily shut down due to this ordeal.
In another incident, a KLM Royal Dutch Airlines flight skidded off the runway at Oslo Torp Sandefjord Airport in Norway. This occurred after an emergency landing on December 28. According to India Today, the plane experienced a hydraulic failure after taking off from Oslo. The officials decided to divert the jet to Sandefjord Airport, about 110 kilometres south of Oslo.
While the plane touched down safely, it lost control during the landing rollout. It skidded off runway 18 and came to a halt in soft grass near a taxiway. The aeroplane was carrying 182 people, and thankfully, none of them sustained injuries.

Another Jeju Air Jet Experiences Landing Gear Malfunction
A day after the fatal Jeju Air plane crash in Muan Airport, another plane by the carrier experienced a landing gear malfunction in South Korea. According to Hindustan Times, the aircraft departed from Gimpo Airport in Seoul and experienced a landing-gear issue after takeoff. It was then returned to Gimpo where it landed safely. Jeju Air Flight 7C101 departed from Gimpo International Airport for Jeju at 6:37 AM local time. It was carrying 161 passengers and returned to Gimpo at 7:25 AM.
