Facing a health scare while travelling can be difficult to deal with. Whether you’re on a train or a flight, finding medical assistance can be a time-taking challenge. A passenger on the Amrapali Express faced a similar situation recently. However, the 70-year-old passenger’s life was saved, thanks to the quick thinking and swift action of the Travelling Ticket Examiner (TTE) onboard.
TTE Performed CPR To Save Elderly Passenger From Heart Attack
While travelling in the general coach on train number 15708, an elderly passenger experienced a heart attack. Recognising the urgency of the situation, the TTE immediately administered Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), a life-saving technique that involves chest compressions to keep blood circulating when the heart stops beating.
The man was quickly taken to a hospital at the Chhapra railway station for additional medical care after CPR was administered. The Ministry of Railways shared a video of the dramatic incident on Instagram, showcasing the TTE’s actions. The post stated, ‘TTE’s promptness gave life.’
Netizens Had Mixed Reactions Towards The Incident
The video, which captured the TTE giving chest compressions, soon went viral, with netizens expressing their admiration and awe at the TTE’s quick response. “Great job! Such TTEs are rare—people who are truly dedicated to their work,” one user commented, while another added, “Grand salute to the TTE for saving a life.”
The video sparked some debate despite getting a lot of positive feedback. There was some confusion regarding the procedure as some viewers pointed out that the CPR appeared to be performed while the passenger was still partially conscious. Chest compressions are usually administered when a person is unconscious and breathing abnormally.
While some questioned the accuracy of the CPR technique demonstrated, others defended the TTE’s actions. They recognised that in such high-pressure situations, prompt decisions can make all the difference. This sparked a flurry of online discussion. Most people agreed that the TTE’s intervention was essential in saving the passenger’s lives.
In the end, the incident was a powerful reminder of the critical importance of quick thinking and life-saving knowledge, as well as the compassion and dedication that the TTE displayed in the face of a life-threatening emergency.
