The partnership will enable travellers to communicate with airline employees in real time and know the location of their baggage through the Google Find Hub tracking feature.
The idea behind it is straightforward: assist airlines in locating lost bags in less time and deliver them to customers without the standard amount of stress and inconveniences.
Another Emerging Luggage Tracking Technology
According to the report on the press release, Turkish Airlines is the first airline to be the launch partner of a new Find Hub feature of Google named Share Item Location, and it introduces high-tech baggage tracking to the official reclaiming process of the airline.
Now, passengers with a compatible tracker tag or network accessory on their luggage are able to transmit the location of their bag to airline representatives in case it gets lost.
It is not complicated. The Travellers open the Find Hub app, choose the item they would like to track and use the option share item location. The app then creates a secure connection in which it displays the live location of the item.
The passengers may send the same link to Turkish Airlines baggage staff, and they get the correct location information through which they can find and retrieve it sooner.
The Find Hub Feature Operation
The system is set in such a way that the passengers remain in control, yet the airline teams are in a position to monitor luggage.
When a traveller forwards the tracking link, the Turkish Airlines representatives are able to see the location of the bag as it changes. In case the passenger desires to cease sharing, he/she can switch it off immediately via the app.
Other Safeguards Exist As Well
The mutual connection automatically expires after seven days. Better still, the system prevents sharing when the item has been found by its owner. Every location data is also encrypted in the process, a factor that helps safeguard passenger privacy.
