Turkish Airlines Announces Flights From Istanbul To Santiago; Here’s Why You Should Visit This Chilean Capital

Turkish Airlines is the flag carrier of Turkey and it is known for its stellar services. And now, the airline has revealed that it will soon be flying to a new destination from its home base of Istanbul. Yes, starting in December, the national carrier of Turkey will be flying to Santiago, which is the capital of Chile; also known as the longest country in the world.

Come December 18, 2024, Turkish Airways will be flying from Istanbul to Santiago. For those who aren’t aware, it’s the capital of Chile, which is a country in South America. The vibrant city sits in a valley that is surrounded by snow-capped Andes and the Chilean coast range. Not to mention, it is the largest city in the nation! The route will be serviced with four weekly flights and it will have a stopover in Sao Paulo. As it happens, the Star Alliance airline will be flying to the Santiago Arturo Merino Benítez Airport or SCL and it will be using the Airbus A350-900 for the route as reported by Onemileatatime.

Coming to Santiago, it is a beautiful destination and the capital of Chile. With the capital city serving as the political and cultural centre since 1541, there are several churches and government buildings that were erected during the colonial era. So, this highlights the immense historical importance of the city. One such structure of the city happens to be La Chascona, which is also the former home of the poet Pablo Neruda and is now a museum with a collection of artworks. In fact, there are several vibrant art galleries and theatres dotted around the city and the City Centre is known for housing historical buildings and a cathedral. Here’s all you can do in Santiago:

At this point, it’s worth mentioning that Turkish Airlines starting its services on this route will make it the second longest destination on its network. After all, the distance from Istanbul happens to be more than 8000 miles, with the longest being Melbourne, with over 9000 miles. In fact, presently Turkish Airlines flies 11 weekly flights to Sao Paulo and the daily service will continue as before while the 4X service will soon begin to the Chilean capital
