Two Trains Collide In Greece In Devastating Accident Leaving 26 Dead & 85 Injured

Greece witnessed a disastrous accident sometime before midnight on late Tuesday. A passenger train and a freight train collided head-on-head in central Greece. The unfortunate accident occurred in the Tempe Valley leading to a mortifying nightmare. From some train coaches catching fire to many passengers getting injured and losing their lives, the situation after the accident is unimaginable.

Over 350 Passengers Were Travelling In The Passenger Train

Right after the passenger train collided with the freight train, some coaches were destroyed completely, a few coaches came off the railway track and some coaches even caught fire. Dozens of passengers got severed badly and some took their last breath at the collision spot only. Right after the clash, the place was seen getting enveloped by fire and thick smoke. According to several reports, about 16 passengers lost their lives because of the deadly train accident in Greece. And it also led to the injury of about 85 passengers.

Out of around 350 passengers travelling on one of these collided trains, rescuers have already evacuated about 250 passengers. Extricating passengers took a lot of effort because of the intense situation after the accident. With a thick blanket of smoke, the trains shattered badly leaving broken and damaged debris and metal sheets all around. Rescuers had to search through all these to evacuate the trapped people.

The Reason Behind The Accident Is Still Unknown!

The evacuation process began sometime after the collision in Greece. While rescuers started evacuating injured people at around midnight, they were still working even during the early morning hours. Searching for people trapped under such a horrible crash is truly a devastating situation.

Till now, there are no reports on how the accident between the two trains occurred last night. The passenger train was travelling to Thessaloniki from Athens. And it met with this unfortunate accident near Tempe. According to a report by India Today, some government officials shared that they have talked with the army officials to join the rescue workers in the entire process.

This is one of the most devastating accidents in Greece, resulting in such destruction. We pray and hope well recovery for the injured ones.
