UAE Enjoyed Many Long Weekends In 2021
This year, Hijri New Year was shifted to Thursday, 12 August. And that means UAE residents enjoyed a long weekend. Hijri New Year marks 1,442 years since the migration of Prophet Mohammad and his companions from Makkah to Madinah. The first year in the Islamic calendar, Hijri 1, corresponds to the year 622AD.
The Hijri calendar is based on the lunar year, in which months are 29 or 30 days. This depends on when the waxing crescent moon is sighted after the new moon.
Next up, UAE enjoyed a long weekend on October 21, marking the birthday of the Prophet Mohammed. Besides, Commemoration Day and National Day fell on Wednesday, December 1, Thursday 2, and Friday 3.
