Inhalable diffusers that are marked as sleep vapes have become a growing trend amongst people. These vapes help in relaxing the users and also improve the quality of sleep. Available in a variety of flavours, which are often infused with natural ingredients, like melatonin and lavender, experts warn against them. Here’s why they are doing so.
What Are Sleeping Vapes?
Although inhalable diffusers have become a growing trend amongst people, experts have warned about possible health risks that are associated with these products. Yes, a product that guarantees increased quality of sleep, enhanced focus and relaxing effects, these are disposable diffusers that are often shaped like pens. Costing about AED70, these are designed in such a way that they offer 400 to 600 inhalations, thereby lasting about a month. It is used as a diffuser or even as a vape that allows the user to inhale directly through the mouth or they can breathe in the mist that is released into the air using a diffuser.
Although the manufacturers claim that these products are hundred per cent risk-free due to the natural ingredients used in them, there are health experts who warn against them. Some believe that there is insufficient clinical data to determine if it’s safe while others, as reported in Khaleej Times, mention that it can contribute towards the prevalence and severity of asthma.
Health Experts Warn Against Them
Overall it’s a known fact that vaping has negative effects on a person’s health as it affects lung health while also having cardiovascular side effects. So, the experts say that just because it’s natural, it does not mean that it is safe. As inhaling aerosolised essential oils can often lead to inflammation in the airway and bronchoconstriction. As individuals are exposed to reduced air quality in the long run, prolonged exposure can irritate the respiratory tract over time. This means that if it is inhaled repeatedly over time or for an extended period, it might pose a risk to a person’s health.
So, one must be totally cautious while using such products as using them in a closed or ventilated. Space can cause health risks. Not to mention, those people who have respiratory vulnerabilities should definitely steer clear of such products.
