We have done it, you guys! The UAE has officially become the fifth country and the first Arab nation in the world to reach Mars’ orbit. On February 9, 2021, several countries around the world witness the iconic moment when the Hope probe managed to complete a crucial step – reducing its speed from 121,000kmph to 18,000kmph to enter orbit. Congratulations are pouring in from various parts of the world. And we are so ecstatic about it.
UAE Becomes Fifth Country In The World To Reach Mars
The hope probe journey, which began in July 2020 from Tanegashima Island in Japan, has reached its final destination – Mars. After seven months of wait, yesterday at approximately 8.13 PM, the Hope probe reached its destination and is now orbiting around Mars. His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum announced this historic moment on Twitter.
Sheikh Mohammed proudly tweeted two words on the momentous occasion, ‘Mission Accomplished’.
Whereas, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces said,
“We congratulate the leadership and people of the UAE for this indescribable joy of the arrival of Hope Probe to Mars. We will not forget Sheikh Zayed, and this day reminds us of him. The journey to Mars began with Sheikh Zayed and his team.”
NASA Congratulates UAE For The Successful Mission To Mars
He later tweeted, “The entry of the Hope Probe into the orbit of Mars is a significant accomplishment in our nation’s history. This achievement was made possible by the Emirati pioneers whose work will inspire future scientists and engineers for generations. We are immensely proud of them.”
The Burj Khalifa also broadcasted the news with a message stating, ‘Congratulations to all Arabs’, ‘Congratulations to UAE’, ‘A great beginning to the next 50’ and ‘Mission accomplished’
