Recently approved by the UAE cabinet, as revealed by Khaleej Times, this e-call system is already installed in some vehicles. It works by sending emergency messages to the police, as soon as the in-vehicle sensors detect a serious accident. In fact, this information includes vehicle model, fuel, number of passengers inside the vehicle, and location. The aim of updating the e-Call system is to reduce the death toll on the roads by 2 to 10 per cent. It’s worth mentioning that this was first introduced in Abu Dhabi back in the year 2021. This system works by providing the best response time to emergency calls. And it should be noted that this is four minutes only! Not to mention, the rescue e-Call system or Fazaa was developed by UAE telecommunications and digital government regulatory authority along with the Emirates Authority for Standardisation and Meteorology, which was later merged into the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology. This has been done in collaboration with the police authorities. In fact, a similar feature is available in Abu Dhabi, which was released by Dubai Police called Advanced Machine Location.

This allowed mobile phones to notify police after the crash. However, the difference was that the passenger had to dial 999 for the information while in this system, cars will be able to make the call. Not to mention, this can also be activated manually!

It’s worth mentioning that just development comes as the number of fatalities on the UAE roads has increased by 3% the previous year.

So, the new system is bound to help make roads safer for drivers!
