Medical Experts Credit The Dip To Nationwide Vaccination Campaign
Infection rates in the UAE have witnessed a significant drop in recent weeks after hitting a peak of 3,977 cases on February 3. Medical experts credited the dip in cases and deaths to the massive nationwide vaccination and screening campaigns and provision of several vaccines for free to the masses. However, the authorities continue to stress on safety precautions and also added that the numbers will go up every time people lower their guards.
While doctors reveal that there is a day-to-day decrease in the new cases, it will take about 2-3 months for the cases to come down in hundreds. The lowest daily increase in case numbers was recorded on 4 January, when 1,501 infections were detected. Authorities recorded 1,590 cases on January 3, while 1,974 positive tests for the virus were announced on Wednesday, April 28.
As of today, more than 10.5 million doses of Covid-19 vaccines have been administered across the country, a vaccine distribution rate of 106.64 doses per 100 people. More than 41.3 million PCR nasal swab and DPI laser tests have been conducted nationwide since the outbreak began.
Besides, the UAE is also supporting countries harder hit by the pandemic. Medical supplies were sent from the Emirates to India to help it fight the coronavirus. The equipment included 157 ventilators and 480 bilevel positive airway pressure machines used to ease breathing difficulties.
