UAE vaccine drive is operational in full swing, and the nation aims to vaccinate all the eligible adults by the end of this year. So far, the country has administered 11,186,348 doses in a population of 10 million. However, when it comes to taking a vaccine, there are a few exemptions. Read on to know more about it.

As per the national vaccine programme, the vaccine for the citizens is free.
Who are exempted from taking the vaccine?
The Ministry of Health and Community Protection has announced seven categories that are exempt from taking the covid vaccine. Covid-19 patients, pregnant women and people who are a part of clinical trials are exempted. Besides this, people who have received a jab outside the country are excused from the vaccine drive. People who have shown severe sensitivity to vaccines in the past are spared too. Patients with a disease that may differ from the vaccine will be given an exemption after a medical evaluation.
What about the people who have got covid?
Well, people who have been infected with the virus and have recovered again get an exemption. For the same, patients will need to submit a doctor’s report.
How Can excluded people get an exemption?
People exempted from the vaccine can get certificates for the same from accredited centres, clinics and hospitals. Alternatively, the exemption status will also be seen on the Al Hosn app.
Which Vaccines are available in the UAE?
At present, UAE is offering Sinopharm, Pfizer-BioNTech, Sputnik V and Oxford-AstraZeneca. Sinopharm is produced in the UAE at Emirati drug maker Julphar’s plant in Ras Al Khaimah, under the brand name Hayat-Vax.
