Amid the rising regional conflict, UAE airlines have announced the extension of flight suspensions. These are for several regional destinations as airspace closures continue to remain in place. Here’s all you need to know about this development if you also have travel plans.
UAE Airlines Face Flight Delays Amid Regional Tension
Due to the escalating regional tensions, according to aviation experts, there could be more disruptions to air travel to some destinations. These include Iran, Iraq, Syria, Jordan, Israel, and other destinations. For instance, Etihad Airways, which is an Abu Dhabi-based airline, has already suspended its flight to Tel Aviv until July 15. Not only this flight, another flight from Kuwait EY652, which was headed to Abu Dhabi, was also cancelled on Sunday due to a technical issue.
Dubai-Based Airlines Also Affected
Another airline, flydubai, also announced the temporary suspension of flights. This was to and from Iran, Syria, Israel, Iraq, and St Petersburg, and it was until June 30, 2025. On the other hand, Dubai’s flagship carrier, which is Emirates, also temporarily suspended its flights to and from Iran and Iraq. This suspension is in place until June 30.

Sharjah-Based Airline Affected As Well
Sharjah-based carrier, Air Arabia, has also put a pause on its flights to several destinations. These include those on the routes of Azerbaijan, Georgia, Iraq, Armenia, Russia, and Iran. The suspension will be in place through the end of the month. Additionally, it has also suspended flights to Jordan till June 25. This suspension has been put in place due to the regional tension and airspace restrictions.
This comes at a time when flights are also either delayed or rerouted, so passengers who are transiting through the airport across the UAE might face such disruptions to their travel.
