UAE Food Bank Distributes 6.2 M Meals In Ramadan So Far Through Key Initiatives; Details Inside

It was recently revealed that the UAE Food Bank has managed to distribute around 6 million meals during Ramadan so far. As a part of its ‘United In Giving’ campaign, it aims to dispatch 7 million meals domestically and internationally throughout the holy month of Ramadan. Here’s more about this global development.

UAE Food Bank Distributes 6 Million Meals

This is a noble drive, which was earlier launched under the directive of her Highness, Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum, who is the wife of Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who is the Vice President and the Ruler of Dubai. In fact, if the campaign hits the target, 800,000 more meals will be distributed by the end of the holy month. At this point, it’s worth noting that it’s undecided if the holy month of Ramadan ends on March 29, which is a Saturday or March 30, which is a Sunday.

This Is Being Done Through Three Initiatives

This fantastic news was revealed by the Dubai Media Office, and the noble cause serves as a call for people to contribute towards the welfare of millions. If you are wondering how the food is being shared, it is being split into three strands. These are as follows:

  • Blessing Baskets – This is one section, which focuses on the distribution of more than 200,000 meals each day. It is done in the form of food donations, parcels, and surplus meals.
  • Zabeel Iftar – This is a project that aims to provide meals for more than 300,000 workers.
  • Surplus of Good – This is an initiative, which sees a collaboration between food banks and Fatafeat TV. With the aim of educating the community on the need to repurpose food in a sustainable fashion. Surplus cooked and uncooked food will also be distributed to beneficiaries. Yes, these come from hotels, restaurants, households, and even corporate donors.

Innovative Recipes For The People

Moreover, as a part of the programme, the UAE Food Bank is also producing six episodes in five languages. This feature has innovative recipes that can transform surplus food into nutritious meals and is available in Arabic, Amharic, Indonesian, English, and Urdu. Episodes that will be professionally produced, and shows broader accessibility with maximum awareness for the people.
