If you have plans for the National Day holiday, then you will want to know that airfares for visa-free countries have risen by 300%! As reported by the Khaleej Times, it was revealed that this has been attributed to the fact that this is due to a surge in demand and limited seat availability. As it happens, popular visa-free destinations like Thailand, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and the Maldives have seen a significant rise in flight prices. According to the report, travel experts have also revealed that round-trip tickets now cost more than AED2800 for some destinations, which generally cost about AED800.

Some travel experts have opined in the same report that since this is one of the most travelled periods for several residents, people try to escape their mundanity by exploring such visa-free countries. There is a surge in the fee for the dates from November 30 to December 3 as the National Day falls during this weekend. For instance, Baku, which is a common option for the long weekend, the airfare, which is generally AED167, and round trip for AED689 have shot up to AED1,607 and AED2,637 for return.

However, it should be noted that other industry experts have also revealed that this rise in air may stabilise after the post-holiday demand is over. But residents who have plans for a holiday during this period have been advised to book the travel and advance in order to avoid any surprises in the form of no seat availability or sky-high airfares. At this point, it’s worth noting that there are several countries that offer visa-free travel for UAE passport holders but some are in high demand for the relatively lower flight time.

So, if you also happen to be someone who has plans for the upcoming long weekend, then you might want to book flight tickets in advance.
