Quite recently, the UAE introduced a new visa for retired residents of the nation who all are of the age 55 and above. As announced by the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security (ICP), new regulations have been introduced for issuing residency and identification cards for retired residents in the country and we are here with all the details that you might want to know about this.

As the UAE has announced a new residency visa for expats who are aged 55 and above, this will be valued for five years. In fact, retirees can now apply for this visa if they wish to live in the UAE. However, there are certain requirements that one needs to qualify for before they can be eligible for the visa.

Eligibility Criteria For The Visa

To be able to apply for this five-year visa, an applicant must meet the following eligibility criteria.

  • They must have worked in the UAE or outside for at least 15 years and above.
  • They must own property of at least AED1 million or have savings of at least AED1 million. Or they must receive a monthly income of at least AED20,000. This can however be AED15,000 for Dubai.
  • They must produce a bank statement for the last six months.

Steps To Apply For This Visa

At this point, it’s worth mentioning that the residency visa is valid for five years. And of course, it can be renewed if the applicant continues to meet the same requirements. However, to apply for the visa, certain steps must be followed as mentioned by the ICP.

  • One must first log in by using their UAE Pass.
  • After this, they must select the UAE ID and residency service.
  • Next, they must review and update the retrieved data that is displayed on the screen and pay the required fee.
  • Finally, they can receive their ID card through approved delivery companies.

Besides all of this, Dubai has also introduced special programmes to attract retirees. It allows foreign nationals and their spouses and dependents to apply for a renewable five-year residency visa.
