UAE Just Opened A New Border Crossing With Oman In Dibba Al Fujairah; Details Inside

The Emirate of Abu Dhabi in the UAE shares its border with Oman. And recently, it was announced that the UAE has begun operations at the Wam Border. Located in Dibba Al Fujairah, it connects the UAE to the Sultanate of Oman. Here’s all you need to know about this development.

UAE Opens New Border At Dibba Al Fujairah

From February 26, Wednesday onwards, the UAE is now connected to the Sultanate of Oman through the border crossing at Dibba Al Fujairah. This border post is expected to enhance connectivity, movement for citizens and travellers, and facilitate smoother travel between the two nations. Talking about the new border post, it covers an area of 1 million m². Comprising 19 buildings, the new facility has been designed to promote easier travel. Not to mention, the border post also strengthens trade relations between the UAE and Oman.

It’s worth mentioning that the authorities in Oman have also announced the opening of border crossings. They have announced an opening in Musandam and the move is a part of the broader security management effort. As it happens, all authorities have been urged to ensure that they follow all the required travel procedures. As revealed in a report by Gulf News, people are required to carry the necessary documentation when they cross the border for a smooth travel experience.

For those who aren’t aware, Dibba is a settlement and port town, which is located in the Eastern coast of the Musandam Peninsula. Yes, called the Gulf of Oman, it is on the larger Arabian Peninsula. The town and its locality are part of the two countries wherein the old port area falls in Dibba Al Hisn. This is in Sharjah and the territory immediately South falls in Dibba Al Fujairah, which is in Fujairah. And as you might have already gathered, the border crossing is in the emirate of Fujairah. Similarly, the north of the bay, which is Dibba Al Bay’ah lies in the Sultanate of Oman.
