The government in the UAE is constantly trying to make life easier for the residents of the country. For this purpose, they constantly launch some new initiative or the other, to ensure that people can continue with their lives hassle-free. Keeping this in mind, the Ministry of Interior announced a bunch of new initiatives for streamlining services in the vehicle and driving licence sector on Monday, October 7. This is a part of its zero government bureaucracy programme and here’s what it entails.

Several key updates were issued on Monday, as a part of new initiatives. This included the removal of bank liens on vehicles, issuance of clearance certificates for traffic violations, and the ability to replace foreign driving licenses. Taking to X, the officials explained that motorists who wanted to replace their driving licences, which were issued in another country. For this, they can just upload a translated copy through certified legal translation offices. This process will trigger a notification. Yes, this will in turn contain a link that will allow them to obtain the new license.

Coming to the changes to vehicle ownership cards will be facilitated once the bank lifts up its lien. The notifications and service links will then be sent promptly to the users. It’s worth noting that the ministry has also announced that the clearance certificates for traffic violations can also be issued digitally. Upon the payment of fines, motorists will receive their certificates. Moreover, it is expected that the updates will significantly reduce the processing time. And this will even enhance the user experience at a lower operational cost.
