Hottest Summer

Summer is clearly upon us and we don’t need reports from the meteorological department to conclude this. That said, the past weekend was one of the hottest days this season, in the UAE. According to the national Met department (NCM), the UAE recorded one of the hottest days of the season on Friday, 4 June. The maximum temperature on Friday touched 51°C in Al Ain.

Well, summer is here to stay, so brace yourselves for a hot, humid weather. For the next five days, UAE-aites can expect a maximum temperature of around 45º, with humidity levels hovering around the 90%. Besides, UAE residents can expect temperatures to soar drastically over the coming weeks. According to weather forecasters, the UAE will experience the longest day of the year on 21 June. This is calculated based on the day when the sun’s rays are directly over the tropic of cancer.

The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) announced that the sun’s rays will be directly over the Tropic of Cancer on 21 June 2021, making it the longest day of the year. During this time, temperature is set to increase rapidly, across all parts of the country.

“The effect of the Siberian high pressure system over the country is weakening and retreating during this month. The thermal lows will affect the area, where the extension of Indian monsoon depression affect the country from east over most periods of this month,” the NCM said in the report. The forecast also revealed that humidity is expected to drop in June, compared to that in May.
