It’s hardly any secret that intense summer heat begins from mid-July and the UAE. And as the days go by, months of blistering summer are nearly here with temperatures already surpassing the 50° mark this week. Happening ahead of the summer, the National Centre of Meteorology recently recorded soaring temperatures in the country at 50.3°C in Um Azil on Tuesday.

Temperatures in the UAE have already surpassed the mark of 50° ahead of the peak summer season. The National Centre of Meteorology recorded the highest temperature for the season so far at 50.3°C in Al Ain on June 26. In fact, this sweltering temperature was also quite high at 50.6° in Abu Dhabi’s Al Shawamekh as displayed by the National Meteorological Centre. The intense period, which extends until the end of August makes it quite difficult to venture out during the day. Besides the sky-high temperatures, humidity levels are also up to 90% and there are often terms that originate from the desert.

Residents Advised To Take Precautions

As a result, residents across the country have already been enduring this summer heat and humid conditions. In fact, temperatures that have been hovering around 49 to 50°C, people have been feeling the summer heat. In fact, with the rising temperatures, doctors in the country have urged people to take precautionary measures. They were specially advised to do so in case of heat stroke or heat exhaustion. People have been asked to stay hydrated and refrain from going under the direct sunlight if they can do so.

As such, they’ve been asked to limit their movement outside during the midday.
Keeping this in mind, the UAE government has implemented the midday break. This prohibits work under direct sunlight and open-air areas from 12:30 PM to 3 PM. The midday break is going to stay in place till September 15. Not to mention, government and private schools have already collaborated to set up 6,000 rest stations for delivery workers during the break. These stations won’t just be shaded, but also be equipped with cooling devices and water!

So, with the temperatures on the rise, make sure to take all the necessary precautions to stay safe.
