With the winter vacations here, chances are that most of you already have your travel plans in place. However, there are some who are still looking to book their last-minute getaway. As a result, travel executives from the UAE have revealed a rise in the prices of flights and hotels by approximately 15 to 20%. Here’s all about the travel-related trend seen amongst those who’re booking their trips at the last minute.
Last-Minute Travellers See A Rise In Prices
As revealed previously, a large number of people from the UAE have preferred vacations on the sea or section for the winter month. This has been in response to the rise in the price of hotels and flights during the period. In fact, particularly from mid-December to early January, as revealed by Khaleej Times, are the busiest and most expensive period of travel. A major reason for this is the fact that school closes during this time and therefore people have the flexibility of travelling abroad to celebrate Christmas and New Year’s.
Many Choosing To Travel Abroad Despite Higher Prices
In fact, despite there being a hike in the cost, residents are opting to take last-minute travel despite the higher cost that they may incur. Not to mention, some travel agents have revealed that people who are booking their tickets at the last minute can expect an increase in the prices by approximately 15 to 20%. As such, the prices for European destinations, like Switzerland, Germany, and France have especially seen an increase.

Rise In The Prices During The Season
With about a 10 to 12% rise in the prices for tickets to European destinations during the season, there is also an increase in interest for countries like Austria and Finland. However, to avoid paying higher costs, last-minute travellers are looking for alternative routes or even transit flights. As it happens, the numbers remain high for travellers flying to India with an increase of 25 to 30% this season. Coming back to the transit flight, many travellers are trying to save money with destinations like Turkey, as they are increasingly becoming popular for stopovers due to the rising cost of flights.
So, with the demand quite high for last-minute travel, it’s always better to book your ticket in advance to avoid paying hefty prices.
