The year 2020 is finally coming to an end in a few days. What seemed like the longest year with so many hardships and challenges is now bidding adieu to us. And while we welcome the New year on a grand scale, we also look forward to the holidays the New year will get. For the holidays, the UAE Cabinet has announced the public holidays for 2021 and 2022. The first public holiday will fall on January 1, 2021.
January 1 falls on a Friday in 2021, for those whose weekends fall on Friday, you won’t be getting an additional day off this year. Besides that, there are all the other public holidays that you must know of for 2021 and 2022. Emiratis across UAE will get a leave on January 1, 2021, and 2022.

Eid Al Fitr
The end of Ramadan is marked by a multi-day celebration in the UAE. It also includes a holiday for the public and private sectors. In 2021, the celebrations may take place from May 11 to May 15. Whereas for 2022, it is likely to fall from April 30 to May 4.
Arafat Day and Eid Al Adha
In 2021, Arafat Day will fall on July 19, and Eid Al Adha on July 20. As these dates are subject to the moon sighting, the dates may change here. For 2022, Arafat Day may fall on July 8, with Eid Al Adha falling on July 9 to 11. The dates might again change.
Hijri New Year
Still tentative at this stage, but the Islamic New Year, or Hijri New Year, is expected on Tuesday, August 10, 2021. In 2022, it’s supposed to fall on July 30.
Prophet Mohammed’s Birthday
In 2021, October 21 will mark the birthday of the Prophet Mohammed. In 2022, the birthday will be celebrated on October 8.
Commemoration Day and National Day
Next year, the holidays are expected to fall on Wednesday, December 1, Thursday 2, and Friday 3. For National day, the dates will be the same for 2022.
