Gurugram Woman Claims Uber Pets Charges 5 Times The Normal Ride

In the now-viral post on LinkedIn, Anya Rao shared that she recently found the new pet-friendly ride option, Uber Pets, on the cab-booking app. Intrigued, she explored the service details and something caught her attention–the stark price difference between regular rides and pet rides.

“I did a price comparison for a 2km distance. A regular Uber cab costs ₹100, while Uber Pets costs ₹530. That’s 5.3x the price just to have your pet with you,” she discovered. The massive price gap made her question, “If the goal was accessibility, why is this service a luxury? What justifies this massive jump? Is it extra cleaning fees? A premium for pet-friendly drivers? Or just another way to squeeze more money out of pet owners?”

She further added that for many people, pets are like their family, and “they shouldn’t have to pay an absurd premium just to travel together.”
